Pin-Up Inspired Christmas Outfits

It’s the Christmas season and that means getting ready for all those holiday parties! Here are some ideas on what to wear during the festivities. I picked out my favorite color combinations inspired by some classic holiday tunes.

Silver Bells

Here Comes Santa Clause

White Christmas

You can always mix them up, but I love the classic white and red. You may notice I didn’t add any green, and that’s because I like to think of standing out in front of the Christmas tree. Always pair with a red lip, and I usually just do my regular curl set. Up-do or a half-do are pretty classy hairstyles that go with these outfits.
What are your favorite holiday colors?

Ballet Manila: Cinderella!

Cinderella-FBcover.jpg

It was perfection! The costumes, the choreography, the dancers, the MUSIC. Filled my hear with ultimate joy. My previous post on Cinderella (2015) AND this year’s performance by Ballet Manila, has made Cinderella my ultimate favorite princess. This was Ballet Manila’s first take on the production, with original choreography from no other than Lisa Macuja-Elizade (she also played the Fairy Godmother!) Click here for behind the scenes!

I brought along my mom and dad for the first time, and they LOVED it! My brother also enjoyed the detailed set designs, pointing out the moving hand on the clock about to stroke midnight! This production is by far my favorite, and I am so proud of Ballet Manila. They bring the best of ballet to Filipinos!

I had a Cinderella inspired outfit. Basically, I realized I had a dress that matched the Cinderella shade. Added pearls and a black ribbon and my favorite black coat.

The Balm ‘Frat Boy’ face blush, ‘Russian Red’ by MAC, and NYX liquid eyeliner.

Prep:

Step 1: I just used my foam curlers, but you can use a 1” curling iron to create soft curls.

Step 2: Your usual foundation routine. Create cat-eyes with your liquid eyeliner, a good amount of blush on  the apples of your cheeks, and do not forget the red lipstick!

Step 3: Undo your curls and tie into a ponytail.

Step 4: Tie a red bandanna around your hair. I happened to have one that was made into a headband. But, if you don’t have one like I do, look below on how to fold one.

You definitely did it!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Costume Ideas!

It’s finally Halloween season! Time to dress up, get that sugar high, and take lots of shots! You would be surprised how you can incorporate a pin-up vibe to any Halloween costume. Here are few ideas:

Morticia Addams

The queen of cutting off the roses, Morticia Addams is the baddest mom on the block. Her long black hair, silky white skin and demure look is a classic Halloween costume. All you’ll need is a long black dress, a wig (if you already don’t have luscious locks), and killer red lipstick.

Sugar Skull (Day of the Dead)

The tradition of the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos is full of festivities. That includes the sugar skull face. Read more on the history of the sugar skull here on Idda van Munster’s blog. This is a really fun costume where you can put your makeup and face painting skills to work. A fun dress, and some flowers creates the look.

Sailor

A really fun pin-up look giving a nod to the WWII sailors. Some shorts, a sailor top, red lipstick and curled hair and you’ve got yourself a costume. Accessorize with some necklaces such as anchors, swallow birds or even add a temporary tattoo and a sailor hat!

Rosie the Riveter

Lastly, you cannot forget the iconic Rosie the Riveter. She is the poster woman representing the American woman who worked the factories during WWII. She is a pin-up icon! This costume is super easy, and watch out for my tutorial on how to recreate this look!
